“Give back to the nature – Salla” campaign protects a piece of Lapland’s local nature
Visit Salla and the Finnish Natural Heritage Foundation are raising funds to protect and restore a diverse forest area located in southern Salla. Green values are important to Joulupukki TV, which is why this project is close to our hearts. We donated money to the campaign, produced the campaign’s promotional video called “Give back to the nature”, and took many photos and videos of the area. The promotional video, which can be watched below, was realised in English and in Finnish.
What makes the area special is its biodiversity — the 33-hectare area includes seven different natural habitats, such as open fens and over 160 years old forest. We wanted to clearly showcase this diversity through the video. The area is home to a wide range of plant, fungus, and animal species.
At the moment, the campaign has raised a little over half of its target sum. Protecting biodiversity does not concern only the local community — it helps all of us, no matter where we live. As the video says: leave your green mark in Salla!
